ISU: Innerhalb der Shorttrack-Weltmeisterschaften der nächsten Saison werden Einzelstrecken-Weltmeister ermittelt.	Kommentar von packstyle.de: Dieser Beschluß geht zwar auf einen Antrag des Luxemburgischen Verbandes zurück, wurde aber maßgeblich von Horst Klehr, Shorttrack-Wart des deutschen Verbandes DESG, initiiert und populär gemacht. Ursprünglich war vorgesehen, die Einzelstrecken-Titel auch bei EM einzuführen, aber dieser Antrag wurde aus taktischen Gründen zurückgezogen, um eine Mehrheit wenigstens für WM zu erreichen, nachdem die Vier-Kontinente-Meisterschaften "durchgefallen" waren. Die Einheit von Einzelstrecken und Mehrkampf-WM soll den vollen Terminkalender nicht noch mehr belasten. Praktisch wird es so aussehen, dasssich am Modus der WM im Prinzip nichts ändert, nur das die Strecken-Ranglisten über 1500, 500 und 1000 Meter in den Rang einer eigenständigen Weltmeisterschafts-Entscheidung gehoben werden. Vorteil: Medaillenchance auch für Läufer, die auf einer anderen Strecke gestürzt sind oder disqualifiziert wurden. Nachteil: Einzelstrecken-Weltmeister können nur Läufer werden, die den gesamten Mehrkampf bestreiten. Die Teilnahme von Spezialisten nur auf einer Strecke ist vorerst nicht möglich.
ISU: Es wurden Änderungen genehmigt die eine Neuansetzung zur Verhinderung von Team-Skating ermöglichen.	Kommentar von packstyle.de: Damit geht man auf eine schon vor Jahren gültige Regelung zurück. Praktisch sieht das so aus: Bis enschließlich Viertelfinale werden Läufer aus derselben Mannschaft grundsätzlich in verschiedenen Läufen angesetzt. Im Halbfinale werden zwei Läufer derselben Mannschaft in verschiedenen Läufen angesetzt. Hat eine Mannschaft drei (oder vier) Läufer im Rennen, werden maximal zwei im selben Lauf angesetzt. Doch die Auswirkungen sind zweischneidig: Einerseits wird tatsächlich Teamskating (die Umsetzung taktischer Absprachen zuungunsten Dritter) verhindert. Andererseits können sehr leistungsstarke Nationen nun leichter sämtliche Läufer ins Finale bringen, die sich nicht mehr gegenseitig eliminieren können. Die Wahrscheinlichkeit, daß ein starker Einzelläufer (ein vermeintlicher Außenseiter) ein "leichtes Los" bekommt, sind gleich null. Kommt er doch ins Finale, wird er jetzt erst recht ein opfer von Teamskating.
ISU: Für die Mannschafts-WM wird ein neuer Modus eingeführt. Die Dauer wird wieder von einem auf zwei Tage erhöht, an denen vier Entscheidungen fallen. Am ersten Tag der Konkurrenz findet die Qualifikation statt, am zweiten Tag die Finals.	Kommentar von packstyle.de: Die genaue Austragung der künftigen Mannschafts-WM weist noch einige Fragezeichen auf. Nach nicht offiziell bestätigten Informationen sollen die Staffel-WM-Titel künftig im Rahmen der Mannschafts-WM ausgelaufen werden. packstyle.de hat eine entsprechende Anfrage an die ISU gerichtet mit der Bitte um Details. Meinung von packstyle.de: Shorttrack ist ein Einzelsport, die Staffel wird als Mannschaftsdisziplin akzeptiert. Darüber hinaus halten wir eine Mannschaft-WM für überflüssig. Das geringe internationale Interesse an bisherigen Mannschaft-WM läßt auf die gleiche Aufassung in vielen Verbänden schließen. Kleine Shorttrack-Nationen (und das sind die meisten) sind vollkommen chancenlos und demotiviert. Vielleicht setzt sich diese Auffassung noch durch. Dann wäre im Terminplan der Weg frei, später Einzelstrecken-WM und Mehrkampf-WM zu trennen.
ISU: Staffelentscheidungen für Männer und Frauen werden als Demonstration bei Junioren-WM aufgenommen.	Kommentar von packstyle.de: Bisher gab es eine Mixed-Staffel, ebenfalls als Demonstration, die nicht mehr fortgesetzt wird. Die Länge der Staffeln für Junioren und Juniorinnen soll 2000 Meter betragen.
ISU: Es ist jetzt vorgeschrieben, bei allen ISU-Wettkämpfen Halskrausen zu tragen.	Kommentar von packstyle.de: Auch wenn Shorttrack damit noch teurer wird - damit wird die Sportart auch sicherer, und das nötig.
[weitere Aspekte]	Kommentar von packstyle.de: Es wäre aus unserer Sicht wünschenswert gewesen, das Juniorenalter herabzusetzen, weil schon jetzt ein Teil der absoluten Weltspitze noch im Juniorenalter ist. Dies blieb aus. Zudem gab es Bestrebungen, die Europameisterschaften abzuschaffen, die sich aber nicht durchsetzen konnten.

ISU: Single distance Championship titles* will be included in next season’s World Short Track Speed Skating Championship.*	Comment by packstyle.de: This decision was taken by an application ofthe Luxembourg Federation, but most of the the idea and the convincing is made by Horst Klehr (Shorttrack representative og German federation DESG). It is only valid at WCh, not at ECh. It was more impotant to save the ECh in general than changing their rules, because a planned Four Continents Chempionships (the ECh counterpart for American, African, Asian and Oceanian skaters) was declined! In practice the WCh will held in the same way as in the last years, the only difference is: The distance ranking over 1500, 500 and 1000 Meters willbe raised to a Single Distance WCh. Pro: Skaters falled down or disqualified on an other distance are able to win a medail nevertheless. Contra: Participation of specialized skaters in one or two distances only is not possible. Only Overall Competitors are able to win a single disntance title.
ISU: Amendments including a new makeup of races were approved to avoid team skating.	Comment by packstyle.de: This is a comeback of a past rule. In practice there are the following situation: In the quarter finals (or earlier heats) skaters of the same team have to start in different heats. In semi finals two skaters of the same team have to start in different heats, in case of thre (or fpor) skaters of the same team there is a maximum of two of them in the same heat. But the effect double-edged. On the one hand, really, it is a right rule to avoid team skating (carrying out tactical arrangements to the disadvantage of other skaters). On the other hand, very strong nations are more easy able to bring all their skaters till the final race. In the final race they are able to use team skating, and a strong separate skater has a nearly insoluble problem.
ISU: A new format was introduced for the World Short Track Speed Skating Team Championships. The event will be increased from one to two days during which 4 team competitions will take place. On the first day of the competition, a qualifying session will be held and the final team competition will be skated on the second day.	Comment by packstyle.de: The detailed format of upcoming Team WCh is not clear yet. Roumor has it that relay WCh titels will be awarded during the team WCh in future. We are waiting for the answer of a packstyle.de question to the ISU. Our opinion about Team WCh: Shorttrack is an individual sport, and relay races are accepted as a special team discipline. All other team events (especially the Team WCh) are unnecessary. The low interest of Shorttrack nations to participate suggest the same. Small nations (the major number of Shorttrack nations) are chanceless and discouraged. Perhaps ISU will recognize that some time. Suggestion of packstyle.de: canceling Team WCh and awarding Overall Champions and Single Distance Champions in separate events.
ISU: A relay event for Men and Ladies will be introduced as an exhibition* at the World Junior Short Track Speed Skating Championships.*	Comment by packstyle.de: So the mixed relay race (the previos exhibition) is cancled. The distance will be 2000 Metres (both, male and femal juniors).
ISU: It is now mandatory for Skaters to wear neck protection* at ISU Events.*	Comment by packstyle.de: In this way Shorttrack will become more expansive, but Shorttrack will become safer, and this nessecary and more important.
[further aspects]	Comment by packstyle.de: In our opions it would be desirable to low the junior's age, because it is not appropriate that the juniors's WCh are dominated by top skaters of ISU world ranking. But there were no changing.
