Although there is only limited ice time, less than 100 days a year, there is a great excitement among skaters and people involved with short track speed skating. It is expected that a new ice rink will be built in coming years, and that there will be more ice time then. There are two clubs dealing with short track in Sarajevo: "Champion" and "Bosna". Unfortunately, there is a huge need in short track equipment for continuation of this sport, that cannot be met by local participating parents and skaters. Getting out of the war, Bosnia and Herzegovina is still recovering economically and life standard is rather low. As vice-president of "Champion", I would like to invite all members of this development group to assist development of short track speed skating in Sarajevo. "Champion" has appointed Ms. Bibija Kerla, former speed skating champion, to run sport development program for both short track and speed skating, and Ms. Jasna Krivosic-Prpic who will run administration part of this Program. They are both on copy of this message for further contacts. Jasna speaks English and French, and Bibija is fluent in German. Herewith, I would like to invite all of you to donate necessary equipment such as skates, blades, boots, guards, protectors, sharpeners, sharpening stones, racing uniforms, helmets, even helmet covers with racing numbers whether they are new or used. I would also like to ask clubs to consider establishment of exchange programs with "Champion". All donors will become honorary members of "Champion" and will receive the membership card in return.
