Einladung zum Shorttrack-Fest in die Olympiastadt Sydney. Dort finden zwar Sommerspiele statt, aber im Canterbury Olympic Ice Rink (10 km vom Olympiastadion) sollen am 10. September 2000 auch Eisläufer ihren Spaß haben. Ausgeschrieben sind Shorttrack-Rennen über 250, 500 und 1000 Meter im vierten Sprintcup von Sydney sowie zweimal 1500 Meter und 3000 Meter im ersten rennen um die "Endurance Plate" (Ausdauerpreis). The 4th Sydney Sprint Cup (250 m, 500 m, 1000 m) and the 1st Endurance Plate races (2x 1500 m, 3000 m) will held on September 10th in the Canterbury Olympic Ice Rink (about 6 miles from the Olympic Stadium).   2000, 12.-16. Jun, Quebec City (CAN). 48. Ordentlicher ISU-Kongress | 48th Ordinary Congress of ISU. Wichtigste Entscheidung für Shorttrack: Es wird Einzelstrecken-Weltmeisterschaften geben. Die Titelkämpfe über 1500, 500 und 1000 Meter werden im Rahmen der Mehrkampf-WM ausgetragen. Die Staffel-Entscheidungen werden dort ausgegliedert und in die Mannschaft-WM eingegliedert (dazu später mehr). Bestrebungen, als Pendant zur EM eine gemeinsame Kontinent-Meisterschaft der anderen Erdteile (Amerika, Asien, Afrika, Ozeanien) zu installieren, fanden keine Mehrheit. Es stand sogar die Austragung der EM auf der Kippe, aber sie werden bleiben (allerding nur mit Mehrkampf- und Staffel-Titeln). Für eine Herabsatzung des Juniorenalters gab es keine Mehrheit - die Altersklassen bleiben so, wie sie sind. Die beiden Weltcups in Europa 2000/2001 finden in Österreich (Graz) und der Slowakei statt. Die ISU-Beschlüsse, kommentiert von packstyle.d, ISU-Kommunique. Most important Shorttrack relevated ISU Congress resolution: In future single distance World Champions will be held. The Single Distance World Champions over 1500 m, 500 m and 1000 m will be awarded in the same cometition as Allround World Champions. Relay chmionships change to a new shape of Team WCh (more about later). Euroean Championships will be held in future too, but as Allround ECh only (there were endeavours to cancel ECh). A planned Four Continents Chempionships (the ECh counterpart for American, African, Asian and Oceanian skaters) was declined. Changes in the age groups were declined too.
